Insurance Law

About the Insurance Law Section

The Insurance Law Section brings together CMBA members who work as plaintiff or defense counsel, representing clients in various types of insurance coverage cases.  Through our monthly meetings, CLE and case law update emails, we provide timely and informative content for our members.

Section Activities

Bar Journal

Section members provide articles for the February issue of the CMBA Bar Journal.

CLE Programs

The Insurance Law Section sponsors two CLE programs annually, a half-day session in the fall and a full-day program in the spring. We request advanced specialization credits in Insurance Law for these programs.

Monthly Meetings

Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at the CMBA.  In addition to our business meetings, we feature keynote presentations by esteemed Insurance Law practitioners as part of our series, "Legends of the Insurance Bar."

All members of the CMBA are welcome to join us!

Meet Our Section Chair

Why should a CMBA member join your Section/Committee?

We have strong programming and good networking. A bonus is that the section members have deep knowledge of the area of law and routinely discuss difficult and trending topics at our section meetings.

How has the Section/Committee impacted your practice?

I have learned a lot about my specialty, I have made good connections in the industry, and it helped prepare me for my Ohio insurance coverage specialization exam.

What do you like best about practicing law in Cleveland?

The city is big enough to have widely varying and sophisticated experiences, but small enough to develop meaningful relationships with a good number of my legal colleagues around town.

Why are you a CMBA member?

While my daily work connects me to my firm, our clients, and business contacts, I am a CMBA member because it connects me more broadly to my profession, and it gives me valuable opportunities for professional education and growth.

Tell us more about you.

While I love all things University Circle, I have a special spot in my heart for the nearby Rockefeller Greenhouse. I also love to hike in the Metroparks with my kids. Something else I consider a hobby is that I like to sightsee whenever possible. A "fun fact" about me is that I am a pepperoni pizza enthusiast, on an endless quest for ideal pizza (which I have found at Marotta's in Cleveland Heights).
